Katie Strempke Finishes First Singlespeed at 2022 Utah Mixed Epic

Katie Strempke

Team Rider Katie Strempke completed the Utah Mixed Epic in 5 days, 5 hours, 24 minutes, placing her third overall and first as a singlespeed rider. The race started and ended in Moab, winding through deserts, canyons and mountain ranges in southeast Utah and western Colorado. Katie rode her Chumba Sendero Steel set up singlespeed (32×20) with 2.6-inch tires.

β€œI had a blast out there. The route was SO GOOD. It was pretty incredible going over the La Sals, Abajos, and Henrys and linking all that with rugged desert,” says Strempke. β€œIt was definitely tough, but not unlike the Colorado Trail, every time I was pushing my bike, I just had to look around. It takes a lot of work to get to those beautiful, remote places and it's totally worth it. 100% would recommend. I loved it.”
