We are honored and excited to be featured on the cover of the 10th anniversary edition of the Bikepacking.com Journal!

The photo taken by Cass Gilbert, back in the day won Bikepacking.com’s Best Photo of the year award and was part of the photo series for the Tres Volcanes Route creation from the trip where Cass, Alex Alexiades (Chumba Team Rider) and Vince Colvin (Chumba Partner/Worker Bee) rode between Ecuador’s Cotapaxi, Lake Quilotoa and Chimborazo.

Reaching Chimborazo was a trip highlight and the photo is from that moment where we first really stopped and basked in the beauty of the volcano. Cass was lying on the ground with a long lens to get the shot, I was riding repeats on a ribbon of paramo happy to have caught up to them, while Alex snacked and looked on laughing at us. After that I spent a good while sketching the view enjoying the clouds rolling over the summit until they finally overtook our view from the mountain. That night we huddled up in a Choza at the mountaineers base camp at at 4,000 m (13,120 ft) and I still froze my butt off.
