Sand and Snow: 80 Miles on the Mojave Road

Looking to break in her new fat bike this winter, Katie set out on the notoriously sandy Mojave Road. Historically a Native American trade route, a 140-mile portion of the route was popularized in the off-roading community in the 1980s.

When the overcast day turned into a snowstorm, and her energy didn't match what the conditions demanded from her, she had to contemplate whether this particular ride was worth slogging through.

You can read or listen to the rest of Katie's thoughts on her ride at TheTownBicycle.com and you can see the video from her Mojave Road fat bike ride here

We made a custom fatbike for Katie as a team bike that matches her Sendero fit for cross training in the offseason and aiding her goals to access routes not possible on a MTB. We are not currently planning to offer them as they are so ridiculously time consuming to fabricate.
